Paint some bookends with us tomorrow from 3:30-5:00 pm at our next Teens Create! event.   Forget those plain, dreary looking bookends and design your own for our teen bookshelves.

The library will be closed on Wednesday, November 11th in honor of Veteran’s Day.  We’ll open again on Thursday morning.

The Rose Hulman Institute of Technology, who provides math and science homework help through their hotline 1-877-ASK-ROSE, have posted some SAT help practice through PDFs and videos. Check it out here.

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted new information for everyone, and I do wholeheartedly apologize.  It has been truly busy!

For those of you who’ve come into the library and seen the Teen Read Week display up behind our new DVDs, the Teens’ Top Ten book winner was a big surprise this year!  The Teens’ Top Ten is voted by teens and not awarded by the adults who review, sell or tout them….which is very cool and doesn’t happen so often.  This win is not so much of a surprise for all the nerdfighters out there (you know who you are) who’ve followed the author John Green on the YouTube Vlogbrothers channel and may have voted for the book Paper Towns.  If you haven’t caught John Green’s videos, enjoy one here about his big win:

…Cassidy Clouse and Hannah Espiritu!  These girls both won a Flip digital video camcorder—the top prizes in our summer reading contest.  Congratulations to our participants and prize winners here.  We gave away hundreds of dollars in gift cards to Wal-Mart and Books-a-Million and Game Stop.

The overall winner of the summer reading photo contest is Elizabeth Brummett!  Her picture won Overall Best in Show and beat out the adult competion.  Elizabeth also placed 2nd for other entries.  Next, a big hurrah for Jessica Weisheit, who received 3rd place in the teen division for her picture from Yosemite National Park.    Everyone’s pictures looked fabulous and I appreciate all of your creative energy out there.  I hope to see more pictures in the future.  Check out all the winners’ photos in our display by the library elevator.

Some of you seem to be re-reading the Harry Potter books in preparation for the movie Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince coming out next week!  If you want to catch up on the movies, join us for Potterpalooza this Friday from 12-5:30 pm, and Monday, 11 am-9 pm.  The first session this Friday, we’ll show the first 2 movies, then finish off the last 3 on Monday.  See you there!

The first Teen Music Club meets this Thursday night—that’s tomorrow—from 7-8 pm in the Teenscape, and we have a Name that Tune contest to play.  So get ready to go face-t0-face with someone and see how many songs you recognize.  Prizes awarded!
