Good to see everyone at the Animanga Club last Thursday. We got to play with food and make Tamago Tomodachi (egg buddies), and enjoyed Tako Sausage and Naruto Rolls with our pocky. Click on the picture link and it will take you to our Flickr photostream—lots more club pictures posted here. Thanks for all your inventive food creations and for bringing Death Note (the live action one). See you next time!

Vote for Your Favorite

Posted by nchcplteens on March 11, 2009

ccba_logoFor the first time ever, Children’s Book Week is including teens in the voting for childrens’ favorite books.  Now we have a choice to vote in the spring, and in the fall for YALSA’s Teens’ Top Ten in October.

Go on over to TeenReads.com, check out the fabulous list of nominated books, and vote starting on March 16th (through May 4th).   The entire book choices  will be announced  on May 14th during Children’s Book Week (May 12-18).

There are many good titles on the nominees list that I wouldn’t know who to vote for.  What do you think?  What book would you vote as your favorite of the list?

Twilight Read-a-Likes

Posted by nchcplteens on March 2, 2009

If you enjoyed the romance of Twilight, try these thrilling books.  There is some serious tension  between the two main characters, and both are fantasy books (the first is realistic/fantasy and the second is very much fantasy):

Impossible by Nancy Werlin

Graceling by Kristin Cashore
