Missing Ending Book Club

Posted by nchcplteens on April 17, 2009

Good to see everyone at the Missing Ending Book Club—many winners tonight, awarded with $10 Wal-Mart gift cards.  We got to play around with backpacking gear, try on a loaded backpack, and check out portable, mini campstoves (not lit, of course) and mummy bags.

Our next Missing Ending Book club is scheduled for the fall, so check back at your library to see when you can pick up your free books!  See you next time.

“Do I Dare Disturb the Universe?”

Posted by nchcplteens on April 3, 2009

poetry_month_poster The quote is from the poem “The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock” by T.S. Eliot.

It’s National Poetry Month!  Go on over to the GottaBook site everyday, for they’ll be posting some doozies.  Children’s poems, that is.

If you want some more grown-up ones as well (I like my poetry young and old), check out the Poetry180 website by former U.S. Poet Laureate Billy Collins.  He’s a very zen-like kinda guy.  Read his poem “Introduction to Poetry” — it’s #1 in the poetry listing on 180 site.  You can also get a daily poem sent to your email at the site.  Too bad they don’t Twitter yet.

Oh, and check out our display in the AV & Teen department (behind the new DVDs):  it features teen fiction in verse form to celebrate poetry month.
