She Blinded Me with Music Science! / Summer Jobs

Posted by nchcplteens on May 5, 2010

Do you want to know why you sound better in the shower? Or why songs get stuck in your head (earworm…ew)?  Or just what IS music anyways?

Go to the Exploratorium Museum website and found out.

Need some cash for summer?  Looking for a job to keep you busy and give you some experience and money?

Check out information at the Young Hoosiers Conservation Corps.

Summer Jobs for Indiana TeensThe Indiana Department of Workforce Development again is sponsoring the “Young Hoosiers Conservation Corps.” Teenagers in 91 counties (all except Marion) are eligible to apply for summer employment with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources and the Indiana Department of Transportation.

“Do I Dare Disturb the Universe?”

Posted by nchcplteens on April 3, 2009

poetry_month_poster The quote is from the poem “The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock” by T.S. Eliot.

It’s National Poetry Month!  Go on over to the GottaBook site everyday, for they’ll be posting some doozies.  Children’s poems, that is.

If you want some more grown-up ones as well (I like my poetry young and old), check out the Poetry180 website by former U.S. Poet Laureate Billy Collins.  He’s a very zen-like kinda guy.  Read his poem “Introduction to Poetry” — it’s #1 in the poetry listing on 180 site.  You can also get a daily poem sent to your email at the Poets.org site.  Too bad they don’t Twitter yet.

Oh, and check out our display in the AV & Teen department (behind the new DVDs):  it features teen fiction in verse form to celebrate poetry month.

The Twilight movie via Entertainment Weekly

Posted by nchcplteens on July 17, 2008

The cover of the new Entertainment Weekly doesn’t cast Edward in the best light…at least make-up wise. What do you think?
