The Wackiest Spring Break Ever

Posted by nchcplteens on January 20, 2010

Can’t wait for spring break?  Go on a crazy trip with Cameron in Libba Bray’s book Going Bovine.  Cameron’s family is about to give up on him and his slacker ways.  But when he gets diagnosed with Mad Cow Disease (yup, really), he takes a surreal trip (or is it all a dream?) that changes his life.  This book just won the Printz, which is a book award honoring good teen novels.  Read more about the award and more nominees here.

Paper Towns beats Breaking Dawn

Posted by nchcplteens on October 29, 2009

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted new information for everyone, and I do wholeheartedly apologize.  It has been truly busy!

For those of you who’ve come into the library and seen the Teen Read Week display up behind our new DVDs, the Teens’ Top Ten book winner was a big surprise this year!  The Teens’ Top Ten is voted by teens and not awarded by the adults who review, sell or tout them….which is very cool and doesn’t happen so often.  This win is not so much of a surprise for all the nerdfighters out there (you know who you are) who’ve followed the author John Green on the YouTube Vlogbrothers channel and may have voted for the book Paper Towns.  If you haven’t caught John Green’s videos, enjoy one here about his big win:
